If I can add my 2 cents on Godaddy. If you're using one of their Linux shared hosting plans, than you need to switch to Deluxe cPanel hosting plans.

Their old Linux plans are terrible for WordPress. After I switched client from Linux plan to cPanel (without any changes to plugins/themes, just migration) the difference in performance was like night and day. All you have to do is call Godaddy support and tell them you need to switch to cPanel hosting, and they should pro-rate your new plan based on your previous plan so you don't pay full price again. That's what our client did.

Now, the switch. Support rep will say there will be no downtime during switch, but that's BS since their system is slow. Here's what we had to do:

1. cPanel hosting needs to be issued for a dummy domain example1.com, their system will not allow another hosting plan for example.com.
2. You need to migrate your WP files/database and set it up on cPanel hosting.
3. You need to delete old Linux plan from your dashboard.
4. Now their system can take up to 4 hours (that's how long we waited) to update itself and make your example.com domain available.
5. In cPanel, there's a domain switch option. Once system updates (#4), example.com will become available to be switched. So you switch.
6. It should be live now.

Depending on how long their system takes to update in #4 step, your website will be down. I kept checking cPanel domain change every 20 min until domain became available - with website being down most of that time.

Thought I share what I had to go through for a client with Godaddy.
