I have exactly the same problem which occurred yesterday. I have spent hours on updating my site then realised I should really back it up. I weighed up all the backup options and opted for updraftplus. I clicked on install and a few moments later "bang" -- site gone and "fatal error, as mentioned above. I have been apoplectic since last night .The Internet consultant I use was at a loss insave to advise that I ask UK2 to increase memory by 64mb. All they would do was send me a new php.ini file suggesting I might "try to edit it" to "see if that worked". No joy!my question: are these fixes mentioned above relevant in this case.
